Description
Painted Oct 2012 with liberties,
The Appalachian Trail that goes from Georgia to Maine dates back to Indian times. Here in the Berkshires it passes over the Cobbles located in Cheshire. The hiker is treated to this fantastic view from an elevation of 1850 feet. The fall is the best time of the year to enjoy it. From the Cobbles the trail goes down through Cheshire, across route 8 and then up to Mount Greylock. At 3290 feet, this is the highest peak in Massachusetts shown it the distance. On Greylock, the hiker is presented with one of the most magnificent views in the Berkshires.
In the foreground of this painting just below the lake is the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail. This trail offers the hiker a most rewarding hike along the beautiful Cheshire lake. The lake is along route 8 which passes through the town of Cheshire & continues on to Adams and then North Adams on the right in the far distance .
In the painting the distant mountain on the far left is New York State. In the far distance on the right are the mountains of Southern Vermont.
